Michiel Daam works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering of the New University of Lisbon and the research centre CENSE (Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research). He has been involved in various national and international projects into the ecological risk assessment of contaminants with emphasis on the influence of climatic conditions on the environmental fate and effects of pesticides. Research topics include the scientific underpinning of environmental risk assessment procedures, chemical stress ecology in groundwater ecosystems and tropical ecotoxicology. Michiel has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers as well as several national and international book chapters. He is reviewer for various scientific journals and acts as Associate Editor for the Springer´s journal “Ecotoxicology”.
