Tomás Ramos

Tomás B. Ramos is Assistant Professor at New University of Lisbon, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering and senior researcher at CENSE — Center for Sustainability and Environmental Research. He holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from New University of Lisbon, a M.Sc. in Coastal Sciences from University of Aveiro and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering (Environmental Performance Evaluation) from New University of Lisbon.

He is member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cleaner Production, Elsevier (since 2009), and member of the Board of Directors of the International Sustainable Development Research Society (since 2013).

His research activity is carried out within environmental/sustainability assessment and management (impact assessment, performance evaluation and management, indicators, strategic monitoring; national, regional and corporate sustainability reporting). He has been mainly involved in the teaching of strategic environmental assessment, environmental impact assessment, environmental planning and land use management, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has been an environmental consultant to numerous private and public organizations on the fields of environmental management and assessment, sustainable development indicators and green accounting. He has published widely on these topics in international journals including Ecological Indicators, Journal of Environmental Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Sustainable Development, Land Use Policy, Impact Assessment and Project Appraisal, Ocean and Coastal Management, International Journal of Environmental Technology and Management, Progress in Industrial Ecology, and Business Strategy and the Environment.

Between 2003 and 2010 he was member of the Accreditation Council of the Order of Engineers of Portugal. Between 1997 and 1999 was the President of the Portuguese Environmental Engineering Association.
