Cristina Ascenço is a PhD candidate in Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies at NOVA School of Science and Technology, conducting her research at CENSE. She holds a Master of Science in Chemical and Biological Engineering from ISEL and a postgraduate degree in Environmental Systems Management from ISCTE.
Her doctoral research investigates the convergence space between top-down public policies supporting the circular economy and bottom-up local and business-led circular initiatives.
Cristina is currently a senior researcher at Instituto de Soldadura e Qualidade (ISQ), where she participates in national and European R&DI projects focused on resource efficiency, circular economy and industrial symbiosis. Since 2022, she has also acted as an expert evaluator for the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). Cristina has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications in the fields of circular economy and industrial symbiosis.
