Biography

Originally from a small rural town in Australian, Nick holds an BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Wollongong (Australia) and a MSc in Geology (Ice and Climate) from both Aarhus University (Denmark) and the Stockholm Resilience Centre (Sweden). He wrote his Master's thesis in collaboration with the Stockholm Environment Institute, focusing on quantitatively uncovering battery electric vehicle supply chains. This involved exploring the transparency of vehicle supply chains from mine to car through international trade data (HS-codes) and mapping the social network structures of automakers.

Currently, Nick is also a consultant for start-ups/businesses at Climate Impact Forecast and Climate-KIC, as well as a youth delegate to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Previously he has worked as a course coordinator of transdisciplinary economic futures courses at CEMUS, Uppsala University, and as a research assistant on a pathways to decarbonisation project at the Swedish Institute for International Affairs.

Nick is currently a PhD candidate based at NOVA University in Lisbon, Portugal where he is interested in reimagining the economy. This includes co-creating, inventing, discussing, experimenting with and implementing post-growth futures at various political levels. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling, sports, hiking and reading. Please get in touch if you wish to collaborate or discuss sustainable degrowth futures!
