Paula has a PhD in Environmental sciences (2015) and a MSc and a BSc in Chemistry. Since 2012, she’s been working on electrochemical technologies (alone or coupled to bio-processes) applied to different contaminated matrices (e.g. soil, sewage sludge and its ashes), aiming contaminants removal and critical raw materials recovery.
Her current postdoctoral research is focused on the study and development of electrochemical processes alone and coupled with the exploitation of fungi as biocatalysts for contaminants of emerging concern remediation. Another key interest is on the development of analytical methodologies with emphasis on Liquid Chromatography with UV and Fluorescence detectors and Gas Chromatography Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry.
