Associated Lab CHANGE approved by FCT

The proposal for a new Associated Laboratory (LA) called CHANGE - Institute for Global Changes and Sustainability was approved by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. This new LA will be composed by three Portuguese research centers: Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research (CENSE) from FCT NOVA, Center for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes (cE3c) from FCUL and the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development (MED) from University of Évora. These research units have different competences that complement each other.

CHANGE will be led by MED and coordinated by Teresa Pinto Correia, Full Professor at the University of Évora and researcher at MED. It is the first Associated Laboratory completely dedicated to Global Change and Sustainability in Portugal, with the mission of developing realistic public policy solutions that contribute to a competitive, resource-efficient and environmentally friendly economy in the face of current and future global changes.

In this call, 40 institutions or consortia of R&D institutions were approved to grant the status of Associate Laboratory by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. Associated Laboratories consist of research and development institutions or consortia of R&D institutions that make explicit commitments to the pursuit of national scientific and technological policy objectives.
